We are pleased to welcome Jeff Shen to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Jeff is a Managing Director and Co-Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock Systematic Active Equities as well as a member of the BlackRock Global Operating Committee. (BlackRock is the world’s largest money manager with approximately $10 trillion of assets under management). He has a BS in economics from Hobart, an MA in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a PhD in finance from NYU. Jeff is also an adjunct professor at NYU where he gives a yearly seminar on international investing for graduate students. Jeff’s employment with BlackRock dates back to 2004, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was the Head of Investment for Asia Pacific and Emerging Market active equities. Prior to joining BGI, he began his career in 1997 with JP Morgan where he held numerous positions in global macro investment and asset allocation research in both New York and London.

Jeff and his wife Sally live in San Francisco and have a house in Napa, where they spend many weekends and summer vacations. They have two young daughters and enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. Jeff says he first learned about NMRF through its Founder, Michael Jackson: “My wife Sally and I first got to know Michael and Pepper at Festival Napa Valley and we became instant fans of them and the causes they advocate.” Jeff looks forward to supporting Dr. Bodor’s amazing work and getting to know the Napa Valley community.
